Introduction to Steel Fabrication & Blacksmithing I

Class 1

    Thursday starting October 11th, ending  

    March 15th, 6pm - 9pm - 10 weeks

Class 2

    Saturdays starting January 14th, ending

    March 17th, 1pm - 4pm - 10 weeks    

Class will cover:  MIG welding techniques, how to

use Oxy/Acetelyne torches for heating and cutting, a variety of cold and hot work techniques in steel,

and basic blacksmithing techniques (including bowl

making and leaf making).

Students will complete a few small projects while learning these techniques.  The first 5 weeks of class are spent learning basic blacksmithing skills.  Welding, cold steel work, torch work and hot cutting are covered throughout the 10 week class, with a focus on welding and creating projects the last 5 weeks.

Intermediate Steel Fabrication & Blacksmithing

Class 1   

    Tuesday starting January 10th, ending   

    March 13th, 6pm – 9pm, - 10 weeks

Class 2

    Wednesday starting January 11th, ending   

    March 14th, 6pm – 9pm, - 10 weeks

Students will work on self directed projects. New processes and techniques will continue to be taught throughout the class.

Open Studio

    Fridays from 11am - 3pm (Or by appointment)

For students who have taken two classes at Blue Hell Studio. This is a great way to get in some extra practice, get ahead on a project, or start something new. Chris will be on hand for technical assistance, but this will not be a class setting. Price is $25 / hour, can be bought as blocks of time. Contact Chris for availability. Christopher Daniel,

- Classes are not welding certification classes.

- Students are required to purchase welding gloves.  They can be found at Lowes, Valley Gas Distributors , or Eastern Welding Supply.

- Students also encouraged to wear steel toed boots, but work boots will do.
